pura vida:(pronounced POO-rah VEE-dah) in English means, 'pure life'. However, these two words have much more meaning throughout the Costa Rican culture. It is commonly used to say hello & goodbye. It means living life to the fullest, without regrets, and never taking anything for granted. Pura vida essentially means the good life.
