thirteen point one

13...

most people will tell you it's unlucky

but it happens to be my favorite number

& my mom's too

it also happens to be the number of miles i ran this weekend

It all began twenty years ago when i became a daughter to a fitness freak (aka my mother) who loves working out. In fact, she loves it so much it's her job. Zumba...boot camp...cycle...body works...aqua. You name it, she does it. And she's great at it. And she's awesome. She could kick my butt any day. And somehow she talked me into running my very first

HALF MARATHON

I wish they wouldn't call it a half marathon cause that makes it sound wimpy. But guess what? It's dang hard! This was no walk in the park, ok? Actually, it was a run through the park. At the happiest place on earth... Disneyland! Which, let me tell you, made the whole 13.1 miles a lot more happier. And guess what else?

I loved it.

Well, most of it :)

There is truly a feeling like none other that comes when you accomplish the impossible. Because for me, a half marathon didn't seem possible. But i did it, and if you don't believe me I have a big shiny medal to prove it! And lots of pictures...

This is my 'why the heck am i about to do this' face...
Love me some pb&j at 4am!
Waiting for the race to start! Along with 11,000 other crazies
Snow white, esmeralda, belle, & repunzel
5am, fireworks, and the starting line!
"NO SLOW" ...appropriate.
Since it was still dark, everything was all lit up. It was so pretty!

We found Tink around mile 4 as we entered Disneyland
Isn't my mom the cutest?

Shorty after this picture was taken we said goodbye to Disneyland and hello to the streets of Anaheim. By then the sun was shining and we had completed 5 miles.
Mile 1... alright, let's do this!
Mile 2... seriously, cars land is the cutest thing i've ever seen
Mile 3... hey belle, i'm you in short, sweaty runner form. picture?
Mile 4... um why am i not riding the rides?
Mile 5... awww hi castle! ok bye castle
Mile 6... half done. wait, not even half. oh my
Mile 7... i'm hungry
Mile 8... thank you kelly clarkson. what doesn't kill me makes me stronger? k.
Mile 9... uhhh why am i doing this. why.
Mile 10... it hurts. everywhere. can i be done now?
Mile 11... i can't do this. nope. i'm going to die.
Mile 12... ONE MORE. just one more. just run faster so you can stop running sooner.
Finish Line... i'm done? i'm done! HALLELUJAH. yeah. i'm never doing that again. i'd like to thank my mom, my legs, and my pump up jams. also i need a bed, now please.

Right after i finished my mom was waiting for me with a big hug. I love her:)
Recovery meal. Yuuuummmm :)
